Via
Via is a walking practice about adventure and reflection. This walking path is made up of numerous “lines of flight” outside of the urban region of London. It’s challenging to point out whose story this actually is while following in the steps of urban nomads. “Walking” refers to both the actual physical motion of human body and the interaction of present moment with the ghost from past. This ongoing project uses photography, performance and writing, as a mode of presentation for autoethnography, to examine the urban dweller's desire for wildness and unexplored futures.

This project involves 14 main walking routes, as well as a number of shorter walks.
They serve as the physical form of the “lines of desire”.
“VIA” is the process of passing through something, which in my native language is pronounced “Tu Jing”(途经). It has a similar pronounciation to another word, “徒径”, which means a path that leads to a faster and easier way to a destination. It can also be read as “no means of achieving anything”.
